Use your puppy’s first visit to organise the information you already have. Bring the records supplied when you collected the dog and write your questions before entering the practice. You do not need to choose a complete preventive care schedule yourself.
What should you bring?
- Health documents from the breeder, shelter or previous owner.
- Details of previous vaccinations and products, where available.
- The current food name and a description of the puppy’s normal day.
- Your observations and questions.
Tell the vet if records are missing. Do not guess dates or mark uncertain information as confirmed. Start a digital profile with the information you have and fill the gaps after the consultation.
What should you ask the vet?
Discuss your puppy’s health assessment, future visits, vaccinations, parasite care and everyday activities. Ask for the advice, product names and dates in writing.
WSAVA vaccination guidance distinguishes core and non-core vaccines. Your vet chooses the plan. An online schedule cannot confirm which vaccines an individual dog has received.

Record the advice after the visit
Open your puppy’s PetsyPlanet profile and add the visit. Record facts from the documentation, including the date, completed care and agreed next steps. You can keep a document photo with the record, while retaining the original.
Add future dates with app reminders. Check the date and phone notification settings. If you care for several pets, make sure you use the correct profile.
