Dog parasite care: plans, dates and records

Parasite care needs a plan that fits the dog’s situation. ESCCAP publishes separate guidance on worms and external parasites. Do not assume that “against parasites” means every product has the same scope.

Agree the plan with your vet

Describe your dog’s situation and normal activities. Mention planned travel and products previously used. Ask for a clear record of the product, timing and instructions.

Record completed care

Keep the actual date, product name and veterinary advice with your dog profile. Retain product documentation. Separate future dates from records confirming what was actually administered.

• Check the correct pet profile.
• Copy the product name from the documentation or packaging.
• Record the actual administration date.
• Add the next date from the agreed plan.
• If care is shared, agree who records completion.

Use reminders carefully
